Negotiations Update 4

MEC Survey & Opener Review

Meeting With Dan Herring

MEC Survey and Opener Review

This week the Negotiating Committee met with the Master Executive Council (MEC) to review the Flight Attendant survey results and the Opener. The MEC is comprised of the Local Council Presidents (Jaci-Ann Chung and Melissa Hooper) and the MEC Officers (Sharon Soper, Scott Henton, and Joni Kashiwai). The Opener is the document developed from Flight Attendant responses to the contract survey, and outlines the Association’s proposed changes to the contract. The Company will have its own Opener with proposed changes to the contract. We will be exchanging Openers with the Company when we begin negotiations, which are tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2017.

Meeting with Dan Herring

The results of the survey showed that there were a number of concerns centered around scheduling. We therefore requested to meet with Dan Herring, the new Managing Director of Crew Planning & Scheduling. We wanted to ensure that he understood our Flight Attendant concerns. He then shared his vision for Crew Scheduling going forward. We look forward to working with Dan during negotiations in the coming months.

What’s Next?

The Negotiating Committee will be meeting again the week of November 14th. As a reminder, our email address is open and available for questions, comments, or suggestions. Our address is AFAcontract2017@halafa.org
