Most people cannot afford to strike, however, AFA’s brand of striking – CHAOS™ is a targeted form of striking that minimizes the financial risk to Flight Attendants while having a huge impact on management and captures the public’s attention. CHAOS™ is an acronym for Create Havoc Around Our System. It is the perceived threat of a strike (for management and for passengers) that has the greatest impact. Other than the flights that are struck the airline will continue to run as usual. CHAOS™ allows everyone to work until a particular flight (or flights) are identified for striking. AFA is thoughtful about how it uses CHAOS™ and it would not be utilized until we are released by the National Mediation Board (NMB), and that is a long, long way from happening.
